The economic was changed in Queensland after Cyclone Larry’s occurrence, as crops were wiped away and can’t be replanted due to the damaged soil. Hectares of land were wasted because of the natural disaster, Cyclone Larry. Food became more expensive, especially sugar and bananas. Bananas are widely grow through-out Queensland, but with a natural disaster, hectares of land were wasted, causing Bananas to be expensive and farmers to earn less. Bananas plantations were ripped out of the ground, and some washed away by the flooding after the cyclone came. Queensland’s tropical fruit plantations, including sugar canes and avocado, also suffered. The cyclone destroy 80-90% of Australia’s banana plantation, causing 400-500% rise of prices across the country. The sugar prices also raised as sugar plantations were destroyed badly when the cyclone when inland.

Trees uprooted means destroying the environment, and debris everywhere means polluting the area. The Great Barrier Reef was also damaged, some coral were dislodged and damaged vegetation and beaches. Rubbish and debris were also thrown into the Great Barrier Reef, causing major coral damage.

The social impact of was one of the positives of the Cyclone Larry. It brought people from Innisfail and other cities (which were effected) together. New residents always complained about how they felt left out, and now everyone is sharing the same experience, homeless but together.
More than 150 people from all around Australia joined in the cleanup and help re-open damaged schools and public shops. People also help make inhabitable homes habitable again. More than 6000 hours of community service has been completed as a part of cleanup the mess of Cyclone Larry.
